Surgical Technologist - Orthopedic Surgery (Operating Room)
This is an exceptional opportunity to join the highly organized and skilled team of perioperative professionals at the state-of-the-art Swedish Orthopedic Institute! Weâre looking for a Surgical Technologist with a background in orthopedic surgery to work alongside some of the best surgeons and OR nurses in the area to deliver positive patient outcomes on cases ranging from total hip and knee replacements to cranial and spinal procedures.
This is a regular, hourly, 8 hour, Day shift position, 1.0 FTE, 80 hours bi-weekly. This position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, generous 401 (k) plan, commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.
Scale begins at $20.04 per hour. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience.
Premiums: Evening - $1.75/hr, Night - $2.50/hr, Weekend - $2.50/hr
Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for facilitating the surgical procedure through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technologist work as a member of the surgical team under the supervision of a registered nurse, with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other medical support personnel to provide patient care in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Surgical Services department and Swedish Medical Center.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED. Certificate of completion of a surgical technician vocational program or documentation of equivalent training.
Registration with the Washington State Department of Health as a Surgical Technologist required. National certification by the Liaison Council on Certification for ST is preferred. CPR Provider certification is required.
Six months experience in a hospital operating room preferred.
Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with physicians and staff members. Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Interpret ratios and percentages. Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form. Strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to listen to others and understand the message.
