As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, a! nd adheres to Seattle Childrenâs policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. sing the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patientâs family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Childrenâs strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), ART, etc.
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specif! ic area of nursing, may be required for specific departments.
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers. Current PALS certification will be accepted in lieu of the BLS either at time of hire or as an annual competency. However, the incumbent is responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. (ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above.)
- Specialty certification in area of practice may be required for specific departments.
- Any position that requires use of a motor vehicle will require a current Washington State Driverâs License and must meet the current Motor Vehicle Record criteria as defined by Risk Management.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within 90 days of hire for the following departments: Emerg! ency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Float Pool, Recovery Room (PACU), Operating Room, Outpatient Procedure Center, Interventional Radiology, Pediatric Transport Control, Bellevue Surgery Center, Seattle Urgent Care, Mill Creek Urgent Care, and Bellevue Urgent Care. New Graduate Residents in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Interventional Radiology, and Bellevue Surgery Center have 6 months to obtain PALS. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Transport staff nurses are required to have both NRP and PALS within 90 days of hire.
- Bachelorâs degree in Nursing.
