Brady Veterinary Hospital is a 4 veterinarian AAHA accredited mixed practice located 3 miles east of Montesano (pop 3000) and 4 miles west of Elma (pop ~3000). !
This is a semi-rural area at the base of the Olympic Mountains and close to the Pacific Coast. We are 30 minutes west of the state capitol, Olympia. The excitement of the big city of Seattle is available with a 90 minute freeway drive. Brady Veterinary Hospital was established by Dr. Reilly Glore in 1975. We take pride in providing progressive veterinary services to all species of animals. The current breakdown is approximately 90% small animal with the remainder consisting of equine, , hobby beef herds, and small ruminants. We are seeking an associate who will be able to provide progressive complete veterinary care primarily to small animals, but who also enjoys some time working with large animals.
The 4500 sq. foot clinic i! s a former Veterinary Economics Hospital of the Month award wi! nner. The hospital is staffed with a practice manager, an office manager, three receptionists, two licensed veterinary technicians, several non-licensed veterinary assistants, and a part time animal behaviorist.
Equipment includes in-house automated blood lab chemistry and cbc, in house bacteriology, Fuji Digital X-ray, dental X-ray, and a mobile portable X-ray unit, 2 isoflourane small animal anesthesia machines, large animal halothane machine, pulse oximeter/ecg/bp/ET CO2 monitors, multi probe Toshiba ultrasound, IV infusion pumps, ethylene oxide and steam instrument sterilization, doppler blood pressure monitor, high speed dental unit, video otoscopy, laparoscopy, ASIF orthopedic plating equipment, a therapeutic K-Laser. A well stocked Bowie unit is used for large animal out calls.
The practice has been computerized since 1984, and is currently running Avimark software on 14 work stations. All medical records are maintained on the computer.
Cur! rent veterinary staff is Dr. Reilly Glore, WSU '72, past president of AABP, WSVMA and 1997 Washington State Veterinarian of the Year. He is currently serving on the AAHA board of directors. His areas of interest and expertise include dairy production medicine, small animal orthopedics, dentistry, ultrasound, and chiropractic. Non veterinary interests include flying (certified instrument and search and rescue pilot), skiing, computers, and woodworking.
Dr. Carolyn Prouty, Cornell '87, has been on staff for 22 years. Her veterinary interests are internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and feline medicine. Non veterinary interests include cross country skiing, kayaking, lobbying, and serving as a national board member for RESULTS, an international organization dedicated to combat hunger and poverty.
Dr. Laela Arnold, WSU 2005, has been on staff for 8 years. She enjoys working with a variety of animals and the people who care for them. She is grateful to work ! in a clinic that has an excellent support staff and the resources that ! allow her to practice high quality of medicine. An Olympia native, she now lives in Elma with her husband, son Trygve, and assorted pets. Other interests include working on her home and garden, music, reading, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Diane Pinkers, Illinois â95, has been on staff for 7 years. She is an ABVP diplomat, boarded in canine and feline practice. She is interested in internal medicine of both small and large animals. In 2000, she became certified in acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. In 2005 she expanded her knowledge to include Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, and is hoping to become certified in that as well.
A former resident of Bellevue, Washington, she rode horses dressage and hunt seat during high school and college. She is interested in all sorts of fiber crafts often from the wool of her own sheep such as: spins, weaves, dyes, and knits, and enjoys hiking in the ! Olympic mountains and around Mount Rainier.
Office hours are 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday-Friday. Wednesday night the office is open until 7:00PM, and Saturday until 1:30 PM. Emergencies are shared on a rotating basis with other clinics in the area. The majority of the emergencies involve small animals. Associate veterinarians can expect to work 17-20 days per month.
Salary: DOE. Benefits include paid vacation, national, state, VMA dues, Washington state license fees, insurance, uniforms, $2500.00 budget for continuing education, free care for personal pets and veterinary supplies at 10% above cost. Medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and 401K all available. Associates are encouraged to become active in organized veterinary medicine and community affairs, so time off for those activities is granted on a schedule permitting basis.
