Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Nutrition Educator for our Diabetes Education Center on First Hill.
The Nutrition Educator participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the diabetes education program at the Swedish Diabetes Education Center.
In this position you will:
- Educates patients about diabetes medical nutrition therapy and diabetes self-management in individual or group settings
- Assess patientâs self-care needs and his/her ability to manage diabetes
- Plans and conducts continuing education programs in diabetes for allied professionals and the general public
- Functions as a resource clinical diabetes educator-dietitian to the patient and other health care professionals both within and outside the Center
- Applies the nutrition care process while teaching patients and families and assesse! s needs of patient and family
Bachelors Degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics.
Current national registration as a Registered Dietitian
Washington State Certified Dietitian
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible for certification. If CDE eligible, must certify within one year of employment
Demonstrated competence in written and oral communication skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Masters Degree preferred
Minimum of four years nutrition experience,
preferably one year in ambulatory care setting or community health
One thousand hours of diabetes education experience in a variety of settings
Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking
