The Sonographer acts in accordance with hospital policies with high degree of professional ethics and conduct.2. Discretion must be used in several areas such as patient care and scheduling. 3.
The imaging manager is contacted regarding equipment malfunctions, supply requests and any unusual situations that depart from standard policies and procedures.4. Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures of specified body areas by properly positioning patients and locating/scanning areas for interpretation as directed by the physician or radiologist.5. Explains procedures to patients and/or family members ensuring cooperation and optimum test results and to reduce anxiety.6. Delivers exams to Radiologist/Physician for interpretation/review following established procedures.7.
Prepares or cleans patient rooms by changing linens, stocking supplies, wiping off tables and cleaning equipment, ensuring an efficient and clean working environment.8. A! ssist with various invasive procedures as appropriate includin! g, but not limited to, biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, etc.9. Maintain availability to other units in the hospital, performing various exams as ordered by the physician (i,e.,Med Surg, ER, or Surgery).10. Maintains ultrasound equipment by performing scheduled cleanings/tests and document results.
Contacts service personnel and notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment.11. Prepares or cleans patient rooms by changing linens, stocking supplies, wiping off tables and cleaning equipment, ensuring an efficient and clean working environment.12. Schedules patients as needed and ensures patients receive adequate service.13. Attend routine and mandatory meetings and inservices as required for this position.QualificationsEducation/Training: Satisfactory completion of a formal Ultrasound training program or equivalent training as specified by the The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)Experience: Two years of hospit! al based experience is required.License/Certification: The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), CPR certification required.Skills: Must complete skills checklist at the time of hireEnvironmental and Job Hazards: Occasional exposure to chemicals and odors.
Exposure to bodily fluids while assisting physician with biopsy procedures.Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to grasp firmly with both hands and lift up to twenty (20) pounds routinely throughout the shift. Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, kneeling, and wrist and digital dexterity. Patient lifting, ambulating, and transfer of patients in wheelchairs, on gurneys and beds, and for use of mechanical lifts.
