Description: EvergreenHealth Hospital-Main Campus is in need of RN-Surgery (per diem) WSNA right now, this career will be placed in Washington. Detailed specification about this career opportunity kindly see the descriptions. This position utilizes the nursing process for each patient from admission through discharge. Provides direct patient care. Practices within the scope of the Registered Nurse Prac! tice Act. Performs admission, pre-op interview, and assessment of each assigned patient, including age specific needs, before the operative procedure begins as per department procedure. Initiates patient plan of care on assigned patient. Performs on-going assessment throughout the surgical procedure and identifies post-op patient's transfer needs. Identifies patient and family's education needs and plans, implements, and evaluates patient care incorporating patient and family into the process. Documents ongoing patient and family education. Participates with physician partners and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient and family plan of care. Communicates effectively all relevant information (e.g., patient information, safety issues, problems with equipment, quality issues, etc.) to charge nurse/supervisor and physician, in timely way and documents changes in patient condition, on a timely basis. REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrates ability to assess, ! plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Demonstrates abili! ty to communicate clinical / educational knowledge to learners (i.e., students, staff, patients and families). Demonstrates skills to complete the nursing competency assessment checklist. Demonstrates knowledge of new trends and techniques in nursing. Demonstrates oral and written language skills; visual and aural skills in order to communicate, ensure and deliver safe patient care and to provide a legal record of this care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to care for specific age groups under his/her care (i.e., newborn, pediatric, adult, geriatric). Demonstrates accountability for professional nursing practice, commitment to patient care and commitment to uphold the Patient Bill of Rights. Must have the ability to communicate clinical / educational knowledge to learners (i.e., students, staff, patients, and families (significant others). Must be able to demonstrate or to acquire skills to complete the nursing competency assessment checklist. Bachelor of Science in Nursi! ng preferred. Must have current State of Washington professional nursing license. Must have cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification appropriate for specialty area within 6 months of hire date. OR circulating and scrub experience preferred. Additional pay for BSN / MSN.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Evergreen Hospital Medical Center and the WSNA which contains a "union security" provision. This means that, as a condition of employment, you must join the union and pay union dues and any required fees within 30 days of your date of hire.
