Duties include vein harvesting; surgical first assistant; preâ€"op, periâ€"op, and post op management; ICU and PCU care; telemetry; outpatient clinic care; serve! as a liaison between CT surgery service and cardiology, anest! hesia, and nursing; communicating with patients and their families including the provision of patient education; and developing post operative component of discharge plans.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduation from accredited Physician Assistant program LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of WashingtonCertified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician AssistantsCurrent BLS certificationCurrent ACLS; PALS is required based on area of assignment CONTINUING EDUCATION & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS: Continuing education and/or licensing requirements: Physician Assistant licensure; also Continuing Education credits to maintain licensure Maintain Harrison nonâ€"physician practitioner credentials Completion of Harrison mandatory annual training requirements Population Specific continuing competency requirements: Knowledge and expertise in providing care to assigned population EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3â€"! 5 years midâ€"level care experience in area of cardiothoracic surgery. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing practice Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork and problemâ€"solving to achieve goalsDemonstrated skills in verbal communication and listening Demonstrated skills in providing excellent service to customers Demonstrated skills in managing the care of assigned patients ENVIRONMENTAL / JOB CONDITIONS: Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals or Substances and/or Infection: Risk of exposure to infectious diseases during all patient contact Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens: Risk of exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens during all patient contacts Personal Protective Equipment Required: Gloves, gowns, masks ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides quality midâ€"level practitioner patient care, according to hospital and industry standards, to assigned patients; demonstrates appropriate ageâ€"related competencies; prov! ides patient education on all procedures according to age specific need! s; facilitates patient's cooperation and alleviates anxiety; addresses patients' concerns. Complies with required documentation including: chart notes, dictation and billing of consults, fee sheets, coâ€"signed signatures and scheduling of cases Responsible for data collection for a variety of databases maintained by Harrison Medical Center as assigned Provides education to nursing staff through bedside training, formal didactic classes and continuing education offerings. Participates in clinical research activities as appropriate Communicates pertinent information to physicians, Infection Control, and other hospital personnel as required to maintain safe patient care practices.

Maintains a courteous and professional manner towards patients, staff and family members Actively participates in multiâ€"disciplinary team meetings as needed Demonstrates collegial working relationships with various community providers Participates in professional organizations to maintain! relevance in area of expertise Performs other duties as assigned Coordinates inpatient and outpatient consultations Coordinates activities of the cardioâ€"thoracic surgery clinic. Schedules patients for clinic appointments. Assists and supports clinic ancillary staff as needed.
