Patient Services Coordinator II - Bariatric Surgery Program
The Bariatric Surgery Program at Swedish Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Patient Services Coordinator to join their team! Requirements include an understanding of the specific needs of bariatric programs and patients, inclusive of familiarity with the medical terminology, coding, insurance, and clinical issues specific to this area of healthcare. The selected candidate will be a key member of this multi-disciplinary team, providing support in a number of clerical and clinical tasks, including the vital role of collecting and entering data to support the programâs status as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. The Patient Services Coordinator will also serve as a primary resource to our patient population as they progress through pre- and post-surgical processes.
This is a regular, hourly, 8 hour, Day shift position, 1.0 FTE, 80 hours bi-weekly. This position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, generous 401 (k) plan, commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.
Salary scale: Scale begins at $16.47 per hour. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience.
Premiums: Evening - $1.10/hr, Night - $1.75/hr, Weekend - $1.00/hr
Responsibilities
This position performs a variety of front office clerical and support tasks in an outpatient setting. Responsible for greeting patients, new referral intake, appointment and surgical scheduling, insurance authorization, collecting insurance co-payments, billing, abstracting, and clinic medical record management. May assist in coordination of research activities for accreditation purposes.
Qualifications
High School Education or GED. Completion of health care assistant program with an accredited school preferred.
Minimum of one year of related experience in a healthcare setting required. Experience with hospital and/or clinic based Bariatric program preferred.
Must possess the ability to use a computer and learn other computer related operational functions. Basic data entry skills required. Electronic medical record scheduling preferred.
Must have proven outstanding customer service skills.
Must be able to handle and perform a wide variety (multi-task), of clerical and office functions in a Bariatric ambulatory clinic setting. Ability to work with and provide support to a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses and ancillary staff.
Must understand coding and medical terminology related to co-morbid conditions that are commonly associated with obese patients.
Retail experience a plus, but not required for health related products.
