Surgery Core Technician

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING:
1.
High School graduate or equivalent; CRSCT status preferred.
2.
3-5 years Central Service experience or related field or formal training in approved Central Service Technicians and/or ORT program.
3.
Must have thorough knowledge of aseptic techniques and procedures, sterilization techniques and procedures, infection control requirements, and a basic knowledge of medical surgical procedure and terminology.
4.
Thorough knowledge of nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
5.
Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures. Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
6.
Must be currently certified in CPR and recertified annually.
7.
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
8.
Must be teamwork oriented, self-starting individual with good judgment and maturity required to accept responsibility in various medical care situations.
9.
Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management. Word processing experience.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies, instruments and equipment dispensed by the operating room, following infection control practices. Stocking core, ordering, preparing case carts ,assist with
prepping (holing limbs etc), assisting in cleaning and preparing rooms in the OR.
Assist with positioning and transporting of patients as needed.
Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions.
Must be conscientious with regard to procedures, equipment and instrument turn-around and all duties relative to the department.
