Randstad National Recruiting is seeking Inpatient and Outpatient Coders to work for a nationwide healthcare insurance provider based in Burien, WI. This position is temporary with the assignment lasting 4 months. Those that cannot commit to the below schedule, should not reply.

2- Inpatient and 1-Outpatient (Cancer center)
Codes and abstracts all inpatient and ambulatory surgery records using client (various) documentation systems, and codes into Actus Hospital CAC product. The inpatient Coder reads and reviews inpatient, ambulatory surgery, emergency room, and outpatient medical records in order to correctly assign ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes and as appropriate CPT and HCPCS level II codes, sequences the assigned codes in the coding system, exercising all principles of assigning ICD-9-CM coding to determine the appropriate DRG. Abstracts coded dates and patient information as needed per coding client guidelines (information may include items such as attending physician, surgeon, date of surgery, disposition, infant birth weight etc..). Uses AHA coding clinic for ICD-9-CM for official coding guidelines.
Working hours: M-F
Qualifications:
- Must have RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H or qualifies to sit for exam within one year of hire
- 3+ years' experience coding inpatient records in a hospital HIM Department or vendor environment.
- Must have thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Required: High School diploma, College degree preferred with course work in medical terminology/Anatomy and Physiology/ ICD-9 and CPT coding course work.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard coding guidelines, specifically DRG assignment and resulting payment classification.
- Experience with Meditech and/or 3M systems helpful
