Further informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. 1 Requisition Number: 12-4484 Job Title: Registered Nurse: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit-0.9 FTE D/N rotations Department: 11010-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit City: Seattle State: Washington Location: Hospital Main Campus Secondary Location: Union: WSNA Work Status: Regular Shift: Day/Night Shift FTE/Hours per pay period: 0.9 FTE (72 hours per bi-weekly pay periods) Hours Per Shift: 12 Call Hours: Work Days: Varies Salary: In Accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement Job Description: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 13 bed unit that is a quaternary care referral center for 4 states that cares for patients from 45 weeks corrected gestational age up to young adults. The PICU patients have a number of interesting conditions including septic shock, solid organ transplant (liver, intestine, and kidney), advanced bone marrow transplant, neurosurgery and other pediatric surgeries. Specialized care provided in the PICU includes ECMO/ECLS (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation/Extracorporeal Life support), continuous renal replacement therapy, liver dialysis, nitric oxide and ICP monitoring. The PICU is all RN staff who work closely with respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers, pharmacists and physicians to care for these critically ill children.
The physical environment is made of mostly single rooms with a parent space (including a place to sleep in the room) that allows families to be present and partner in the care of their child. Relocation assistance is available. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Childrenâs policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care.
using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patientâs family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Childrenâs strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), ART, etc.
Requirements: Required: One (1) year current RN experience working in a PICU, CICU, or level III NICU is preferred. ((However, will also consider RNs with at least two (2) years current RN pediatric acute care hospital experience or adult ICU experience)). **Current RN pediatric acute care hospital experience or adult ICU experience is required. Current Washington State RN License.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be required either upon hire, or within orientation phaseNurses may be asked to work overtime occasionally Preferred: Bachelorâs degree in Nursing.
