Assists the ophthalmologist with patient evaluation and participates in designing case management regimens including but not limited to amblyopia treatment, orthoptic exercises, glasses, prisms and eye muscle surgeries. Acts as a mid-level provider seeing the Surgeons follow-ups, post-ops, visual checks and can bill for his/her services. Responsible for strabismus evaluation, infant vision assessment, retinoscopy, refraction and providing orthoptic treatment.
Requirements: Required: - Bachelor’s Degree in basic scie! nce or health care, or related field- Certification from an ac! credited AOC (American Orthoptic Council) Orthoptic Training program (i.e., successful completion of a two-year Orthoptic internship, written and oral/practical exam)Preferred: - Experience in pediatric Ophthalmology specialty services.- Membership in the American Association of Certified Orthoptists (AACO).
