The Director of Patient Access provides leadership, direction, and coordination for his/her department(s) in a manner consistent with organizational missio! n and objectives. Develops objectives and operational practices that ensures that the critical success factors are achieved (i.e. best place to work, safest place to receive care, superior outcomes, financial success for reinvestment, valued as a faith-based organization, and a growing organization vital to the community).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for oversight and process improvement of all functions of the Patient Access Department within the hospital, including; pre-registration, registration, authorization, verification, central scheduling, bed placement, patient flow, cardiac ¿One-Call¿, cashier functions and financial counseling.

Responsible for registration and front desk functions in all areas of the hospital including outpatient services in same-day surgery, lab, radiology, and outpatient clinics.

Work collaboratively with Case Management, Health Information Management, Coding and Patient Financial Services to en! sure excellent results for all aspects of the revenue cycle.
Develop and monitor cost-controls to utilize time, material, and personnel resources in an effective and efficient manner. Ensures compliance with Department operating budgets.

Manage the department to effectively and efficiently support operations.

Develop and implements short and long term goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization¿s mission, vision, critical success factors, values, and other strategic initiatives.

Facilitate a positive work environment that meets individual and organization

Ensure department operations are carried out in a manner that is consistent with AHC¿s values for respect and integrity as a faith based organization.

Provide an efficient and effective customer focused service environment that promotes customer satisfaction.

Lead department in quality monitoring and performance improvement initiatives that support achievement of the values, critical success factors, ! and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in specialty health field, business, or healthcare administration required.
Masters degree in hospital, business administration or specialty health field preferred.
Five to ten years experience in revenue cycle management of a healthcare services organization with evidence of progressively responsible experience in leadership roles required.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA and other related rules, regulations and legal requirements of health information and health services.
Strong working knowledge of CMS rules and regulations.
Strong written and verbal skills in English, including communication skills that promote interpersonal relations and customer service.
Ability to work well in a ¿matrix¿ environment with multiple stake holders and business partners to achieve System wide goals and objectives.
Ability to create work environment that promotes eff! iciency and productivity, satisfaction, growth and development, and col! laboration and teamwork.
Ability to manage financial budgets.
Ability to diplomatically manage crisis situations and resolve customer service issues.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Computer proficiency in HIS, SMS, e-mail, Microsoft suite, windows environment, and Internet.
