Job Summary: Ensures that complete and accurate data are collected and maintained for all patients diagnosed with and/or treated for cancer within EvergreenHealth. Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS-CoC), Washington State cancer registry, and the EvergreenHealth Cancer Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the preparation for weekly cancer case conference, cancer committee meetings, data quality control, patient care evaluations, and surveys by regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Maintains a complete and accurate cancer case database 2. Prepares for and participates in weekly Cancer Case conferences. 3. Helps prepare for and participates in Cancer Committee meetings. 4. Accountable for following the guidelines for attendance, punctuality and overall dependability. Accountable for effective performance and follow-through of all assigned responsibilities and for co! mpleting responsibilities within designated (or agreed upon) t! imeframes. Completes responsibilities in a manner consistent with organizational policy, goals and values. 5. Responsible for the âAccountabilitiesâ associated with this position in support of the organization. 6. Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies: ⢠Must utilize one or more Cerner applications to deliver and track patient care. ⢠Must use clinical cancer registry software (Oncolog, C/Next) ⢠Accuracy is extremely important to ensure the effectiveness of the Cancer Registry as it relates to program planning and cancer case compliance protocols for the Cancer program.
License, Certification, Education or Experience: REQUIRED for the position: ⢠Must possess and maintain current certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association for Tumor Registry (CTR). ⢠High School graduate or equivalent ⢠Course work completed in anatomy/physiology and medical terminology and completion of the NCRA-approved post-secondary curriculum i! n cancer data management/cancer registry ⢠Knowledge in use of ACOS-FORDS coding and SEER Multiple Primary & Histology coding ⢠Knowledge in use of ICD9 and ICDO coding, Cancer Staging (AJCC, Collaborative and SEER Staging) ⢠Training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, data analysis and collection ⢠Effective investigative/analytic skills and highly detail-oriented ⢠Effective presentation skills to present reports clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences DESIRED for the position: ⢠Associateâs or Bachelorâs degree ⢠2 years of previous hospital-based cancer registry experience ⢠Ability to work well under stress and in a busy environment ⢠Ability to function independently in the absence of supervision, exercising good judgment and problem-solving skills ⢠Effective organizational skills with good follow through required, strong ability to multi-task, to organize and prioritize responsibilities and complete work on time.
