Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Perioperative Care Associate III in our Orthopedic
Surgery Department at First Hill.
The Perioperative Care Associate III (PCA III) must be able to perform all duties of the Perioperative Care Associate
II (PCA II). The PCA III, under direction, assists the surgical staff with patient care including transportation, supplies,
equipment, instruments, and care of the environment. The PCA III works under guidance of the Surgical Technologist,
Facilitator and RN and the direction of the Surgical Support Supervisor/Nurse Manager. The PCA III functions as a
collaborative and participative member of an interdisciplinary team, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the
Surgical Services department and Swedish Medical Center.
In this position you will:
Assist the core facilitator with completion of case carts and preparation of positioning device! s and equipment.
Assist the surgical team with prepar! ation of the surgical suite including opening of sterile items to the surgical field.
Assists in the training of other Perioperative Care Associates.
Assist with quality improvement processes.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school education or equivalent
One year experience performing duties as a Perioperative Care Associate II or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment
Basic computer skills
The ability to stand and walk a majority of the shift
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Ability to recognize malfunctions of instruments/equipment and decides on proper course of action to pursue.
Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals, and ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Strong verbal commu! nication skills and a demonstrated ability to listen to others and understand the message. The ability to follow procedures is a must.
Knowledge of cleaning surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
Knowledge of good sterilization techniques and the proper monitoring process.
The ability to safely operate area specific equipment, including, but not limited to: sterilizers, steris machines and sonic cleaners.
An understanding of department policies and the rationale behind sterile procedure.
