We are seeking a Medical Assistant (ophthalmic experience preferred) who has strong mu! ltitasking and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate must ! be able to show a history of organizational skills and should be able to demonstrate knowledge and/or readiness to be trained to perform the responsibilities listed below.
Under the direction of a physician, responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for our patients by being pleasant, compassionate, and professional
- Interviewing and recording patients’ medical history, chief complaint, visual acuities, and pertinent exam information into the electronic medical record
- Measuring and recording lens powers using a lensometer
- Performing ancillary testing including glaucoma tests, cataract and refractive surgery measurements, anterior and posterior imaging and scans
- Administering eye drops and checking vitals
- Providing clear and concise pre- and post-operative instructions
- Assisting in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery
- Triaging pat! ient phone calls and filling prescription orders
- Performing routine instrument maintenance and sterilization
- Completing documents and forms including surgical consents, insurance waivers/claims, DOL, etc
- Demonstrating sound judgment in anticipating challenges, problem solving, and seeking the right resources to resolve issues
- Following all company policy and procedures and complying with OSHA standards to ensure safety and security of patients and staff
- Maintaining compliance with our confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
- Completing HIV/AIDS education
