Medical Assistant - Ophthalmic Technician

West Seattle â€" Highline Eye Clinic is a comprehensive ophthalmology practice that provides medical and surgical services to patients of all ages in a professional, dignified and caring environment. We are seeking a Medical Assistant (ophthalmic experience preferred) who has strong multitasking and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate m! ust be able to show a history of organizational skills and sho! uld be able to demonstrate knowledge and/or readiness to be trained to perform the responsibilities listed below.

Under the direction of a physician, responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for our patients by being pleasant, compassionate, and professional
  • Interviewing and recording patients’ medical history, chief complaint, visual acuities, and pertinent exam information into the electronic medical record
  • Measuring and recording lens powers using a lensometer
  • Performing ancillary testing including glaucoma tests, cataract and refractive surgery measurements, anterior and posterior imaging and scans
  • Administering eye drops and checking vitals
  • Providing clear and concise pre- and post-operative instructions
  • Assisting in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery
  • Triaging patient phone calls and filling prescription orders
  • P! erforming routine instrument maintenance and sterilization
  • Completing documents and forms including surgical consents, insurance waivers/claims, DOL, etc
  • Demonstrating sound judgment in anticipating challenges, problem solving, and seeking the right resources to resolve issues
  • Following all company policy and procedures and complying with OSHA standards to ensure safety and security of patients and staff
  • Maintaining compliance with our confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
  • Completing HIV/AIDS education
