Responsible for providing comprehensive dental care services to HealthPoint dental patients and exercising coordinated leadership functions with the dental center manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead Dentist Functions:
Assist HealthPoint Dental Director with Dental Program development, implementation and evaluation.

Provide site leadership for clinical practice and quality. Activities include: tracking quality measures for the site, supporting site teams in setting practice management goals and keeping site teams informed and involved with current clinical protocols, best practices and innovation. Communicate productivity information to clinic providers.

Assist with clinical aspects of operations in partnership with the Dental Center Manager. Activities include: site provider scheduling, problem solving systems issues, dealing with patient complaints, hiring, orientation and learning conversations for site clinical staff and other personnel activities such as training and team building.

Assist with strategic planning and equipment budgeting for the site in partnership with the Dental Center Manager.

Provide guidance and coaching to provider staff on a day-to-day basis. Provide individual counseling to provider staff as necessary for conflict resolution and to promote the development of new skills and behavioral change.

Effectively communicate HealthPoint’s mission and values to staff and clients. Assist Dental Center Manager to evaluate the impact of changes and assist in conducting staff meetings to discuss methods and policy changes for improving customer service, productivity and access, teamwork issues, and for promoting efficient and safe operations. Help to create a work environment in which staff provides superior customer service to diverse clients, and staff teams are supported in resolving issues and conflicts as soon as possible.

Dentist-Essential Job Functions:
Perform general dentistry services, including restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics and pediatric dental procedures for HealthPoint patients.

Promote preventive dentistry concepts through patient education.

Triage and provide emergency treatment to HealthPoint patients.

Review and document patient’s medical history, medications and prescribe new medications in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Review and document patient’s dental history, treatment plans and services provided in Electronic Dental Record (EDR)

Refer patients to specialty care as appropriate.

Assist in orientation, training and evaluation of all new dental staff, dental externs as well as provide ongoing to dental staff in coordination with Dental Center Manager.

Maintains good attendance, is punctual and works full scheduled shift is a condition of employment.

Demonstrates respectful, professional and appropriate behavior that supports a team oriented work environment.

Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, core values and goals of HealthPoint and its healthcare delivery including the ability to integrate values of justice, respect, compassion, excellence and stewardship into appropriate programs and services.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in agency committees and task force activities as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

Doctoral degree from an accreditedschoolofDentistryand three to five years of direct dental services experience.

Licenses or Certificates

Maintain current registration/licensure as a DDS or DMD in the State ofWashingtonas well as a DEA license in the State ofWashington.
