Job Description: The RN First Assistant at surgery collaborates with the surge! on in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. The RNFA practices perioperative nursing and must have acquired the necessary specific knowledge, skills and judgment. The RNFA practices under the supervision of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. The RNFA does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse. The RNFA may also perform in the circulator role as assigned and is responsible for the safety of the patient while in the OR and assists with the supervision of nonprofessional personnel in the area. By assessment of the individual patient and procedure, she anticipates the needs of the surgical team and provides such services while maintaining an aseptic and safe environment. Education: Graduate ! of an accredited school of nursing and CNOR and completion of an accredited course in RN First Assisting- based on the AORN’s Core Curriculum for the RNFA
Experience: Minimum 5 years diversified perioperative nursing experience
Certificate/License: current WA state licensure required. BLS and ACLS certification
