The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) seeks to fill a clinical-track, full-time, 12-month po! sition within the Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery section of its Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position is offered at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, depending upon qualifications, and is available immediately. The position will contribute to a team whose primary mission will be clinical teaching, clinical service and scholarship. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will have responsibility for participation in didactic (classroom) and clinical teaching of professional veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students; will provide health care and service to patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital; will advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients; will develop or collaborate in a creative, basic and/or clinically-oriented research program in Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery or an allied field; and will provide leadership in directing research projects of residents and graduate students.
Although scholarsh! ip expectations as clinical-track faculty are typically modera! te, scholarship interests that complement those of VCS and the College of Veterinary Medicine are desirable. Some examples include gait analysis, osteoarthritis, arthroscopy, fracture healing, oncology, cardiology, infectious disease, individualized medicine, and related fields. Successful applicants must be able to effectively communicate, work collegially, and collaborate with diverse internal and external constituencies. Position Details: Position Details Continued: Minimum/Required Qualifications: The candidate must possess a DVM or related degree (such as BVSc) and be board certified or have fulfilled credentials of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) before date of hire.
Minimum/Required Qualifications continued: Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include ACVS boards, an advanced degree (Masters or PhD in veterinary medicine or closely related field), a record of research or scholarly productivity, strong clinical experien! ce and leadership in orthopedic surgery, and evidence of expertise in teaching in a clinical and/or didactic setting.
