It is our Vision to rethink, redefine and reset the standard of care for pathology groups and laboratories in the country. Position: Grossing Technician I Monday through Friday, noon-8:30pm. Position purpose: Under the supervision of Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants, the grossing technician I is responsible for proper gross description and dissection of simple to medium complexity surgical specimens.

Responsibilities and Expectations: 1. Under pathologist direction, review incoming outpatient and inpatient work and perform gross descriptions on the specimens 2. Assure pro! per handling, care and refrigeration of specimens. 3.

! Works directly with designated PA or pathologist and assumes various responsibilities as delegated by that PA or pathologist. 4. Trouble-shoots and solves problems dealing with specimen accessioning, including mislabeled specimens, incomplete information, etc. Interprets physician orders submitted with specimen.

Seeks advice from pathologist directors, supervisors, other laboratory personnel, or experts in the field when assistance in problem-solving needed. 5. Serves as a reservoir of expertise in proper handling of specimens, to other departments, including surgery, or physicians for advice on proper submission of tissues for routine or special procedures, problem-solving, or other assistance. 6.

Keeps supervisory staff abreast of problems including those related to service, clinical issues or equipment. Notifies supervisor in the event of problems concerning personnel and provides input to assist supervisor in resolving problems. 7. Insures that adequa! te supplies needed for the gross rooms are available and cleanliness of the Surgical Pathology suites is maintained.

8. Interacts with supervisors, co-workers, physicians, and other hospital staff, patient's families, and visitors in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner, and encourages and supports this behavior among staff. Provides a role model for lab assistants working in the Surgical Pathology suites. 9.

Complies with established safety policies and procedures. 10. Must meet and maintain high quality and productivity ratings Qualifications: Absolutely required by federal regulations as a certified lab: Bachelors degree in a science related field (preferably biology or physiology) either of which MUST include 24 semester hours of medical lab technology courses OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology AND 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical lab technology in any combination P! rior morgue, histology and/or tissue experience is preferred Strong wri! tten and verbal communication skills Demonstrated willingness to take direction from others Detailed oriented Demonstrated ability to exercise responsible independent judgment and take initiative Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities The ability to communicate effectively and work well with others Able to stand on your feet for most of the day Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure Readily adapts to changes and variation in procedures and workload Benefits: We offer a generous benefits program including: Medical, dental, vision and prescription premiums paid for the employee Medical, vision and prescription premiums covered at 50% for all dependents Medical benefits effective the first of the month after 60 days of employment 401K with a $ for $ match up to 3% plus $.50 on the dollar match up to 5% plus a quarterly discretionary profit sharing contribution that has averaged 6% of earnings per quarter. 15 days PTO earned in first year ! 7 paid holidays Flexible spending accounts Life insurance Long-Term Disability Employee Assistance Program Free bus pass And more!
