This is a non-bargaining unit position. DUTIES:
The incumbent serves as the Chief, Distribution Section
within the Logistics Service Line at the VA Puget Sound Health Care
System. The incumbent manages a 24 hour
a day, seven day a week inventory& restock program and supervises a staff
of subordinates, located at various worksites at either the American Lake or
Seattl! e divisions. The Medical Center is affiliated with the University Of
Washington School Of Medicine and is a multi-divisional General Medicine,
Surgery and Psychiatric facility which also supports a Bone Marrow Transplant
Unit, Spinal Cord Injury Program, Radiation Oncology Service, Open Heart
Surgery Program and a two-divisional health care research program.
Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 7:30am-4:00pm.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this
position, applicants must meet

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS
grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Examples
of Specialized Experience include: Supervising a staff of subordinate general
supply clerks and other staff located at various worksites, tracking supp! lies
leaving the department, developing training plans, maintained ! oversight of
specialty trays, and maintained reusable medical equipment.
A full year of work is considered to
be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the
basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to
receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their
duties and responsibilities in each position, salary/grade level, and the
number of hours a week spent in such employment).
OR
EDUCATION: 2 full years of
progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B.
OR J.D., if related Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. (Transcripts Required).
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND
EDUCATION: Do you possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed at
least 1 year of graduate education and Specialized Experience directly related
to the work of the position, as o! utlined for GS-09. (i.e.: Six (6) months
Specialized Experience and one (1) full year of successfully completed graduate
education directly related to the work of the position.) Only graduate
education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may
be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9. (Transcript

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) based on your

1. Knowledge
of agency policies, regulations, directives, guidelines, practices and
terminology that relate to medical and non-medical supplies and equipment
supply service.
2. Skills to
communicate effectively pertinent or complex technical information with tact
and diplomacy.
3. Knowledge
the generic inventory package process and how to analyze stock levels and usage
schedules for budgetary control. !
4. Ability to
delegate work fairly as the overseer and men! tor of supply distribution
activities to maintain proper stock levels for constantly changing needs.

Physical Requirements: The majority of the work requires little physical activity.
Occasional bending, stooping, walking and standing for long periods may be
required when conducting physical inventories. A great deal of time is spent at
a work station to conduct research, complete data entry and screen requests for
supplies and equipment. The noise and distractions associated with an open
office environment make it difficult to concentrate and to complete a task
without interruption.
