DUTIES:
Serves ! as a neuropsychologist within the Behavioral Health Service.
Conducts comprehensive neuropsychogical evaluations, integrating historical information, behavioral presentation and complex test findings in the assessment.
Documents higher cerebral or integrative brain functions to aid referring providers in diagnosis, patient management, treatments and rehabilitation.
Responds to referrals from various sources, ie. Neurology, Primary Care, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Behavioral Health and Surgery. Provides results and feedback to sources.
Consults with and serves as a resources for professional staff.
Provides professional advice and consultation to peers and colleagues.
Provides results, feedback, psychoeducation, recommendations and compensatory strategy training to patients and their families.
Conducts concussion secondary evaluation.
Provides psychological services focused on cognitive rehabili! tation.
Contributes to program development in cognitive rehabilitation.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship.
Education
(1)
Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
AND
(2)
Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA.
Exceptions
:
(1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the ! time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offer! ed full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement.

Physical Requirements:
Work divided between office and clinical ward settings, is primarily sedentary. May requ! ire prolonged sitting, moderate walking, wand manual dexterity. The wor! k requires the use of a computer, monitor, and keyboard, and neuropsychological testing materials. Requires carrying of light items, such as book, files, laptop computer, or neuropsychological testing materials.
