Description: Axis Medical Staffing is hiring RN Contract-to-Hire Pediatric Dentistry PACU/PALS Experienced right now, this position will be placed in Washington. The Registered Nurse will watch patients ages 1.5 to 20 years old, placed in a recovery room under careful observation until ! they can verbally respond to the medical staff or move comfortably without assistance. Observation during the initial care period is critical to a patient's well-being and recovery. Recovery nurses are responsible for monitoring patients and documenting symptoms and overall progress. A recovery nurse will check vital signs and chart the patient's progress, communicating any potential problems to the attending dentist or the resident. This position is responsible to the attending dentist in the Operating Room and to the Clinic Manager at any other time.
Typical Work Day:
Performs and documents for assigned patients: assessment and nursing diagnosis of patients; care planning; implementation of safe nursing care; evaluation of patient responses to nursing care; patient teaching; patient advocacy; admission, discharge and transfer processes.
Applies appropriate policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice in performing clinical duti! es.
Participates in quality assurance program by identifyi! ng areas for investigation; assists in data collection, monitoring, and the development and implementation of corrective actions.
Contributes to the establishment and implementation of goals through staff meetings and other activities.
Acts as a clinical resource to health care team members in identification and resolution of patient care problems to enhance effectiveness.
Regularly checks a patient's vital signs, blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
May need to call for assistance and begin emergency resuscitation.
Follows written orders of the Surgeon and Anesthesiologist.
Makes judgments and assessments when it comes to pain, vomiting or trouble breathing.
Responsible for knowing advanced cardiac life support; knows what to do if a patient has cardiac issues.
Responsible for rousing a patient from anesthesia after the patient has been admitted into the Recovery. The patient is discharged to go home after the Recovery nurse has assessed h! er/his status and has been given orders to do so.
May also be responsible for completing medical documentation while observing a patient's recovery.
May also work as a circulating nurse in the Operating Room, admitting, scheduling and phone calls.
Provides written tips and medical precautions for family members and caretakers, as well as instructions on how to administer medication once discharged from the facility. May assist in admissions processing, returning phone calls, confirming patients, and circulating in the Operating Room.

Hourly Rate: Top Hourly pay + Housing Stipend if travel nurse(s) accepts assignment.
Possibility to become a permanent part-time position
Weekly Hours: M, T, W, Th from 6a - 430pm, 4/10s
Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Nursi! ng from an accredited nursing school (BSN)
Required Credentials:
Current Washington State RN License.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications will be accepted in lieu of the BLS either at time of hire or as annual competency.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to learn and apply new technologies and skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Desired:

Experience in a pediatric and/or dental setting.
